WHO WE ARE
About the network
TDN Network brings together online news, radio and television to connect Caribbean communities around the world.
Our story began in 2000 with the online news magazine The Dominican.net. TDN Radio joined the network in 2009, followed by TDN TV in 2012.
Bringing Dominica to the world
In 2013, TDN Network became the first overseas based Caribbean network to partner with Marpin2k4. Originally launched as Marpin TV in the 1970s, Marpin was Dominica’s first cable television provider. The partnership let us stream Dominican evening news, sports and cultural events live to viewers around the world.
It also opened a new way for audiences abroad to share in Carnival. We brought live pay per view coverage of calypso tents, monarch competitions, the national queen show and other cultural showcases throughout the season.
When Hurricane Maria struck
In September 2017, Hurricane Maria struck Dominica. Our volunteer management team and hosts found themselves doing work none of us had imagined: staying on air through the storm and its aftermath, sharing live updates and speaking with leaders and residents about what people on the island were facing.
In the first hours after the storm, communication with Dominica was nearly impossible. TDN Radio Caribbean reached amateur radio operators on the island, whose reports helped families and listeners abroad learn what had happened. With local radio and news outlets offline in the aftermath, our team continued broadcasting, recording names and requests for information from loved ones searching for family. We stayed with the story as Dominica began to recover.
That commitment still guides TDN Network. Through news, radio and television, we share Caribbean voices, music and culture with people at home and around the world.
